HGSS Trainer Kit: Gyarados & Raichu

The HGSS Trainer Kit: Gyarados & Raichu was released as part of the HeartGold & SoulSilver series in 2010. It is a set of two preconstructed thirty-card decks centered around two major characters from the Pokemon franchise: Gyarados and Raichu. This Trainer Kit was designed to help players learn the basics of the Pokemon Trading Card Game by offering two ready-made decks with simplified rules.

Each deck includes three Pokemon cards that feature the featured character Pokémon, 18 Energy cards and a selection of Trainer cards. The Gyarados deck focuses on the Water-type and makes use of the powerful Energy and damage-dealing Dragon Rage attack. The Raichu deck is built on the Electric-type and makes use of the energy-conserving Tail Whip attack.

The Trainer Kit also includes two trainer figures, a playmat, an insert full of helpful tips, four damage counters and a set of rules. Additionally, it also provides a cardboard deckbox to store the cards in and a Pokemon coin to assist in games. In order to make the game more interesting, the kit contains a divided playmat with two sections, one designed for each deck. This allows two players to use the decks at the same time, so that both can learn the game more easily.
