The set was released to celebrate the launch of the new McDonald's Happy Meal based on the Pokémon animated series. The set was designed to be the first released set of exclusive McDonald's promotional cards, which have become increasingly popular for avid Pokemon card collectors.
The set contains 1 rare card and 4 rare holo-foil cards, numbered MCD1-MCD15. Each card features a Pokémon from the Generation I through VII, as well as artwork from the various games and shows. Some of the featured Pokémon include Charmander, Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Pikachu, Eevee and Groudon. Each of the cards also have a special McDonald's logo printed on the bottom right-hand corner.
