Pokemon card set Platinum was released in 2009 and was the 12th expansion of the Pokemon Trading Card Game. It featured over 130 new cards, as well as a selection of older cards that had been re-released with new artwork. The set was made up of six different subsets: Rising Rivals, Supreme Victors, Arceus, HeartGold & SoulSilver, Triumphant, and Call of Legends.
Rising Rivals, the first subset, introduced a new special mechanic known as the Dual-Type Pokemon, which allowed a Pokemon card to be Dual-Typed with two types instead of just one. This opened up new strategies for players, as some Dual-Type cards could be very powerful when used with the right combination of Energy in their deck.
